Progressive Bash 'n Chop Cutter

Published on August 21, 2009 by Ashley Miller

I am very particular about the way that I chop foods. I always try to make it so that each piece is cut evenly and it just provides much better for presentation when I have finished chopping up fresh vegetables and other foods. The real pain comes from having to try to get all the pieces into a bowl or skillet. Especially when cutting up small things such as garlic or chives, it can be a real pain to get everything into the pan. Also, using a knife to cut up food but then not being able to get it into the bowl because of size, shape, or consistency. Well, with the Progressive Bash 'n Chop you can cut up food and scoop it up with the same gadget!

Progressive is a company with many different kinds of kitchen utensils and tools. Everything from collapsible kitchen colanders to cheese slicers to garlic mincers is made by Progressive. Previously I reviewed their Vegetable & French Fry Cutter. The company started around 30 years ago, and since then, they have worked hard to create a name for themselves. When it comes to this product, there really is not a whole lot to the Progressive Bash 'n Chop. The blade for chopping is located on the bottom of the chopper. A ruler is printed on the bottom of the blade. This is helpful when aiming to create similar sized pieces of food. The entire gadget is made of stainless steel so it makes for easy clean up. With a cylindrical top, it makes it easy to get a hold of the chopper. With only a few features, this chopper is simple and easy to use, yet very helpful in the kitchen.

After being introduced to the Progressive Bash n' Chop, I rather enjoyed using this kitchen gadget. I found it to be quite useful and easy to use in my kitchen. For cutting up foods such as Zucchini, summer squash, dough, lettuces, garlic, and many more vegetables this was the perfect tool. With the ruler located along the edge of the blade, you are able to reference back to ensure that each piece you are cutting is even in size. I like this feature for when I am entertaining and trying to make sure that each piece looks exactly like the next. With the ruler right on the blade, I do not have to switch from a knife to a ruler or other measuring gauge all the time. When I was finished chopping, I could scoop up the food with the thin blade. With the Bash 'n Chop, it is easy to pick up and wash off. I do not suggest putting this in the dishwasher as it will develop rust over time but let me assure you that washing is no chore in this case. With the Progressive Bash n' Chop, all it really needs is a quick scrub and rinse.

For only $4 USD (actually less at Amazon.com), you really cannot go wrong with this chopper/scooper. I feel as though it has a nice modern look and would go great with any kitchen. The ruler and blade together is a wonderful feature. While it may seem like a basic product, I assure you that you will find yourself using it more than you think you would. The design and quality of the Bash 'n Chop will meet anyone's standards. I love it and so will you!
